A year later, and TeamLava still can't be bothered to update
Started playing this on Saturday & finished every island today (Tuesday). Once you explore everything, there's nothing else to do. If the game had more islands, I might give it more stars. Like other users, though, I have a problem with the way energy is replenished. It's ridiculous how long it takes to get just ONE energy point back, and the bare minimum you need to excavate the easiest locations is 3, so you're looking at like 15min to replenish just that. As far as peoples' complaints about the gems, I don't have a problem with it. You only MUST have 10 gems to explore 1 island out of like 30, and those are provided to you at the game's start, and you earn them, too. I think this bs about people being money hungry is ridiculous. Of course they are; they run a business, idiots. I mean, I like the game; I have a slew of friends that I gift & tend regularly, but the game quickly loses a point when you have no way to level up aside from the 1xp you get when others tend your island, and you have zero need to cook meat or gift your friends (if there's nothing to excavate, you don't need energy). TeamLava spends a ton of time and effort on their other Story games, and I don't get why they don't expand this one. Anyway, save your time here & download restaurant story. It's my favorite of the "Story" series thus far. ***edit*** I wrote this review in 2011, when I finished the game in 3.5 days on my iPod. Here I am, a year later, still completely agreeing with my initial review after completing the game in approximately the same time on my iPad. Seriously, TeamLava? A whole year and no updates to speak of, aside from loads of popups for your other Story games? I was genuinely surprised when I downloaded this the other day and found that NOTHING had changed in the year+ since I played last. I mean, how hard is it to make dinky little islands? It's not. It's too bad, really, as I genuinely enjoy this game, even though the energy replenishment is still wonky, and it completely loses its point in just a few days. I guess I'll continue to try and level up with tending & gather XP & money when others tend me. What a shame!
